This is probably the longest blog post we’ve ever done! We just loved everything about this wedding it was hard not to show you it all!!!
First of all, it was our first time shooting at the Gabbinbar Homestead and WOW did we fall in love with this place. Not only is it a one stop venue where you can have your prep, ceremony, portraits and reception all on the same property but this place had so much character and gorgeous spots to photograph. It really is a photographers dream! I think our favourite spot was the Old School House. Also, while we’re talking about the Homestead we have to give a shout out to the amazing staff. We were treated like guests and were well taken care of.
Shannon + Rory planned their wedding from Perth which can make things very tricky but the whole day came together so perfectly with the help of amazing vendors which you can find at the bottom of this post. Here’s some thoughts from Shannon…
What led you to decide on your venue? Did you see many beforehand?
We both knew that Gabbinbar was the venue as soon as we visited! Nothing else compared and it suited both of us to a tee.
What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme? And if no theme, the vibe?
Rustic casual charm. We are both not overly complicated people and just wanted something nice, relaxed and simple. The venue did most of the work for us!
What was your favourite detail from the day?
The service received from the girls at Gabbinbar and all of our suppliers. Especially with the little information/photo inspirations I gave everyone. Organizing from Perth was difficult, so having trust in everyones ability and allowing them to do what they thought was best really worked in our favour. Was stoked with the outcome!
Talk to us about your dress? Where was it from? How long did it take to find and how did you find the over all experience?
Praciala dress by Pronovias – Tuscany Bridal, Perth.
Spent one day shopping in Brisbane with my mum and one of my bridesmaids just before moving to Perth. It was the very last dress I tried on at the end of the day (even nearly cancelled my appointment because I was ready to go home by then!). I was unfortunately a little disappointed, as the overall customer service at this particular store did not measure up when compared to the others we visited that day.
I therefore searched online to see if a Perth store possibly had the dress that I was after. With no luck, I made a phone call to the one store that at least stocked the same brand and they managed to special order the dress in for me, all I needed to do was pay the deposit and arrange an appointment to get measured as soon as I arrived. Tuscany Bridal definitely saved me a lot of hassle!
Favourite moment / memory from the day?
The support received from absolutely everyone!
Especially between Rory and I (and also our celebrant) through the ceremony whilst I was trying my hardest to hold it together 🙂
Also one of my eyelashes decided to half pop off just before walking down the aisle. So one of the lovely Gabbinbar ladies even went out and got me some glue during the ceremony so I could fix it straight after!
Advice for other couples planning a wedding?
Have trust in your suppliers and let them do their job. They know best, so try and relax and just go with it!
Anything you are really glad you did? Or wish you didn’t do?
Having a leg of ham come out later in the night was a definite winner 🙂
Who can resist that!
How was your experience with Ben & Hope Photography?
Amazing! They are two people that can work off each other and know exactly what they are doing. Their patience, guidance and ability to have a laugh along the way was exactly what we needed!
