We were worried about the weather leading up to Kara + Pete’s big day. It was a cold, rainy and windy weekend and that’s never a good combination for wedding photos. But the morning of we woke to sunshine! Still a little cold and windy but we love the sun so we were happy about that. We headed off to Kara’s parents home in Palm Beach on the Gold Coast for the bridal prep. The girls were all relaxed and enjoying getting their hair and makeup done whilst we took some details shots. Kara had chosen a beautiful gown by Morilee by Madeline Gardner which we used as the background for her engagement ring shot. Once the girls were ready to go we headed off to Mount Tamborine for the ceremony.
We had shot at Avalon Gardens before and we were itching to get back so when Kara + Pete told us that’s where they were planning their ceremony, we were thrilled. Avalon Gardens is set in a really peaceful setting surrounded by lush trees and gardens. The pavilion with it’s bright white walls and ceiling let in beautiful natural light without being in direct sunlight. A gorgeous hanging chandelier and fountain completes the backdrop perfectly for your ceremony.
Kara + Pete had a very sweet, religious ceremony that focused on their faith and love for each other. They had saved their very first kiss for their wedding day so you could feel everyone’s excitement waiting for the “you may now kiss your bride” moment. Of course there was lots of cheering on!
After the ceremony and family portraits, friends and family gathered for a picnic lunch whilst the Bridal Party headed off for their portraits around the property. Avalon Garden’s has many little unique photo spots to take advantage of. It’s great for variety without having to go too far. One setting is the ‘bridge over pond’ which was inspired by Monet’s Garden in France. We travelled to France a couple of years ago and visited Monet’s home and gardens so it brings back fond memories for us when we visit this spot. Another favourite spot is the lovers swing and farm style gate that backs on to the road. On the way to the reception we stopped at the gliders launching pad just down the road so take some gorgeous shots of just Kara + Pete with the beautiful hinterland view behind them.
We arrived at the reception held at Link’s Hope Island just before sunset. It started to lightly sprinkle and just as we were about to move spots a rainbow appeared right over where Kara + Pete were standing. It couldn’t have been more perfect!
